Lyon Women’s Soccer defeated Williams Baptist University, 1-0, in a road conference match on Tuesday

Box Score WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. – The Lyon College women's soccer team used a second-half goal to defeat Williams Baptist University on Tuesday by a score of 1-0.

Lyon moves to 3-2, 3-0 in the AMC, while WBU falls to 1-10, 1-7 in the AMC. 
 
GAME FLOW 
Each side created chances in the first 45 minutes, but the match remained scoreless as the halftime whistle sounded.  
 
The match remained scoreless until the 50th minute. Kate Whitenton took the corner kick and delivered a perfect ball to the far post. Alli Mead was in perfect position and directed the ball into the net, giving Lyon a 1-0 lead. The Eagles attempted to respond with a goal of their own, but the defense of the Scots stymied the hosts from Walnut Ridge and earned a 1-0 victory over WBU on Tuesday.    

KEY STATISTICS
- Lyon's Alli Mead scored her first collegiate goal.
- Lyon's Kate Whitenton tallied her first assist on the season. 
- Lyon's goalkeeper, Jena Vavasseur, made a match-high six saves on the day, en route to her second consecutive shutout.
