BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College women's basketball team clinched a spot in the NAIA National Tournament for the 10th consecutive year after winning the American Midwest Conference Regular-Season and Tournament titles. The Scots were picked as the No. 2-seed in the Alexandria Bracket B and will take on No. 3-seed Reinhardt on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. in Alexandria, La.
THE MATCHUP
LYON: The Scots enter the tournament with a record of 13-1 on the season and are coming off a 66-56 victory over Columbia College in the championship game of the AMC Tournament. The Scots are led by senior Jade Giron and freshman Paige Kelley. Giron averaged a team-high 19.1 points per game and was selected as the AMC Player of the Year. Kelley was second on the team in scoring at 16.4 points per game and was a Second-Team All-AMC selection.
RU: Reinhardt earned an automatic bid out of the Appalachian Athletic Conference and enters the tournament with a record of 12-6 overall. The Eagles were led this season by Abi Haynes and Catherine Shope. Haynes averaged a team-high 17.1 points per game, while Shope also averaged double figures scoring at 14.1 points per game.
SERIES HISTORY
This will be the first meeting between the Scots and Eagles in the history of the two programs.
UP NEXT FOR THE SCOTS
The winner of Friday's game between Lyon and Reinhardt will take on No. 1-seed Lindsey Wilson in the finals of the Alexandria Bracket B Opening Round on Saturday at 1 p.m.
