Box Score POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. – The matchup between Lyon College and College of the Ozarks needed all five sets to determine the winner tonight. The Scots battled back to tie the match at two sets apiece, but the Lady Bobcats earned the crucial points down the stretch as Lyon fell to College of the Ozarks in five sets (25-16, 34-36, 18-25, 25-21, 11-15).
Lyon moves to 3-3 on the season, while College of the Ozarks improves to 1-1 on the year.
GAME FLOW
With the score tied, 8-8, in the early stages of the first set, the Scots found their rhythm and finished the set on a 17-8 run to take a 1-0 lead.
The second set was a back-and-forth affair as 25 points was not enough to determine which team would take the second frame. With the score tied at 25 apiece, each team exchanged points until College of the Ozarks was able to convert the final two points of the stanza to win the second set, 36-34.
After C of O won the third set, the Scots responded with a 25-21 fourth-set victory to knot the score at two sets apiece as both sides got ready for the all-important fifth set.
The Scots and Lady Bobcats exchanged leads until the score was tied, 8-8. C of O won four of the next five points to take a 13-9 advantage. The visitors from Batesville tried to mount one more comeback, but the Scots could not string enough points together as the Lady Bobcats won the set, 15-11, and match, 3-2.
KEY STATISTICS
- Maggee Hobson recorded a double-double with 16 kills and 22 digs.
- Adia Sherbeyn tallied a team-best 27 digs and team-high two aces for the Scots.
- College of the Ozarks recorded 16 more kills and 10 more digs than Lyon College.
