Men’s Basketball Hosts Two Pivotal Conference Games

The Lyon College men’s basketball team will host Hannibal-LaGrange and (RV) Central Baptist College this weekend

BATESVILLE, Ark. – Entering the final weekend of the 2020-21 regular season, the Lyon College men's basketball team has a chance of clinching its first American Midwest Conference Regular-Season Championship as the Scots prepare to host two key conference games. The Scots will host Hannibal-LaGrange on Saturday at 2 p.m. and (RV) Central Baptist College on Sunday at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.

Prior to Sunday's game, the Scots will honor Jawaun Bryant, Hunter Daley, Dominique Loyd and Faris Verlasevic as part of their Senior Day recognition.

THE MATCHUPS
LYON: 
The Scots enter the weekend at 8-4 overall and 6-2 in the AMC. Cole Anderson leads the Scots in scoring at 11.9 points per game, while Ray Price is also averaging double figures scoring this season at 10.0 points per game. Chris Craig continues to be the leading rebounder for the Scots at 7.0 rebounds per game.

HLGU: Hannibal-LaGrange enters the weekend at 4-16 overall and 3-9 in the AMC. The Trojans will play at (RV) Central Baptist College on Friday night before facing the Scots on Saturday. Grant Peters and Logan Dorethy are the top two scorers for HLGU at 12.7 and 12.6 points per game, respectively. Michael Hood is also averaging double figures scoring at 10.7 points per game.

CBC: Central Baptist College is currently 14-5 overall and 9-2 in the AMC. The Mustangs will host Hannibal-LaGrange tonight and travel to (RV) Columbia College on Saturday before making the trip to Batesville on Sunday. Four Mustangs are averaging double figures scoring this season, led by Tedrick Wolfe's team-high 14.9 points per game. Kelvin Robinson is second at 13.7 points per game, followed by Jordan Parker (12.7 PPG) and Zach Hudson (12.4 PPG).

SERIES HISTORY
The Scots are 13-4 all-time against Hannibal-LaGrange. Lyon earned a 75-50 win in the first meeting this season against the Trojans on Jan. 7 in Hannibal, Mo. The all-time series between Lyon and CBC is tied at 13-13. CBC got the best of the Scots in the first meeting between the two teams by a score of 84-59 on Jan. 12 in Conway.

UP NEXT FOR THE SCOTS
Following Sunday's game against CBC, the Scots will host a Quarterfinals Game in the AMC Tournament on Feb. 25 against an opponent that is to be determined.
