BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College men's soccer team travels to Texas to take on Texas A&M-Texarkana on Saturday. The match is set to start at 12:00 p.m.
The Matchup
Texas A&M-Texarkana: The Texas A&M-Texarkana Eagles are currently 0-3-1 on the season. The Eagles last took to the pitch on Feb. 4 as they fell to Ouachita Baptist by a score of 2-1. TAMUT, a member of the Red River Athletic Conference, are led up front by Dylan Beck and Javier Berdejo. Beck and Berdejo have accounted for both of TAMUT's goals so far this season. The Eagles will also lean on their goalkeeper, Sergio Morales, who has recorded a team-best six saves.
Lyon College: The Lyon College Scots return to the pitch on Saturday, after opening up the season with a 0-0 tie to LSU-Alexandria on Sunday. Lyon will be led up front by
Marcos Fernandez and
Raimundo Cabello. Fernandez recorded an AMC-best 16 assists to go along with 14 goals scored last season, while Cabello tallied 10 goals on the year. Lyon will also lean on first team all-conference members in
Jonathan Carrere and
Leo Galdino. Carrere led the defense of the Scots and helped Lyon post seven shutouts in the 2019 campaign, while Galdino scored five goals and posted four assists on the season. The Scots will rely on goalkeeper,
Dan Huff.
Series History
This will be the first meeting between the Scots and the Eagles.
