Lyon College battles Arkansas State University in exhibition game

Keton scores 24 to lead Scots attack

JONESBORO - Ben Keton scored 24 points and had seven rebounds to lead the Lyon College Scots in a exhibition game against the Arkansas State Red Wolves on Tuesday afternoon in Jonesboro.
The Scots lost the game 88-66, but John Paul Morgan had 11 points and eight rebounds, Grant Patterson added nine points. Arkansas State was led by Nochad Omier with 31 points, Markise Davis scored 14 points and Desi Sills added 10 points. 
Lyon was 20-of-53 on field goals, 8-of-18 on 3-pointers and made 18-of-23 free throws. Arkansas State was 40-of-74 on field goals, hit only 2-of-15 3-point shots and made 6-of-10 free throws. Arkansas State out-rebounded Lyon 42-31. 
Keton had 15 points in the first half. He made a basket inside, hit a three-pointer, converted on another driving shot in the lane hit a 3-pointer from the deep left wing, completed a three-point play and added two free throws for the Scots in the first half. Morgan had a 3-pointer from the right baseline and made 4-of-4 free throws for seven first half points to go with six rebounds. Jonathan Iliya had six points in the first half on short baskets inside the paint for the Scots center. Trenton Bell had an offensive put back for a basket, Grant Patterson made a jump shot from the lane, Eric Koludrovic put in a 3-pointer and Luke Bridges made two free throws.
Lyon held a 9-6 lead early on against Arkansas State on Morgan's 3-pointer. Keton made a trey to close the ASU lead to 21-20 and Keton tied the game at 27-27 with 6:05 left in the first half. ASU outscored the Scots 18-8 to take a 45-35 halftime lead.
In the second half, Morgan hit another 3-pointer and made 1-of-2 free throws. Patterson made a basket, hit a trey and put in two free throws. Keton added two more 3-point shots, a field goal and a free throw. Koludrovic made a basket and hit a free throw, Gavin Brunson hit a basket inside and Devan Halford hit one field goal and made 4-of-6 free throws for Lyon. Arkansas State led by as much as 24 points with three minutes to go in the game.
ASU got 21 points off of turnovers, scored 60 points in the paint, had 17 second chance points and 15 fast-break points. The Red Wolves bench scored 30 points on the night. For the Scots, 10 points came off of turnovers, 12 points came from the painted area, they had only two second chance shots and four fast-break points. Lyon had 16 points coming from its bench players.
