BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Lyon College men's soccer team will take on Harris-Stowe State University in the final round of the AMC Championship on Friday at 1:00 p.m.
The regular season champions advanced to the final round after sweeping Central Baptist College 6-1 on Tuesday. The win took the Scots to a 13-4-1 overall record, winning all except one conference match which ended in a 0-0 tie against Columbia College. In the win against CBC, the Mustangs got an early lead with a goal in the first half.Â
Coming back for the second half, the Scots made an outstanding comeback putting up six unanswered points to send the Mustangs to take a loss with a five-point deficit. Junior Juan Araque gave the Scots two goals with the others coming from sophomore Andrei Galca, juniors Leo Galdino and Tavaris Wellington, and senior Riky Navia.
The Hornets of Harris-Stowe enter the game with an overall record of 14-4-1, winning five of their eight conference games. They advance to the finals with Tuesday's 1-0 win against No. 7 Hannibal-Lagrange. The first half of the match ended with a 0-0 tied score until junior Damani Henderson hit the target before the end of regulation.
