Men’s Basketball Closes Four-Game Home Stand

The Lyon College men’s basketball team will open up a four-game home stand with two non-conference games to open up the week

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College men's basketball team opened up its four-game home stand with two wins this past weekend. The Scots defeated the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy on Thursday, 62-49, and followed that up with a 72-65 victory against Missouri Baptist on Saturday. The Scots will now close out their home stand with to non-conference games. Lyon will face Ecclesia College on Monday at 6 p.m. and Bacone College on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Spectators for Lyon College Athletic home events will be limited to Lyon College faculty, staff and students as well as two family members (including children) for Lyon College student-athletes competing at the event (must present card to enter). Admission is $5 per person (athletic events are free to all current students, staff, and faculty with Lyon ID.) Seating is limited and will be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis. Gates open 30 minutes prior to tip-off. Masks must be worn at all times and temperature checks upon entrance.

THE MATCHUP
LYON: 
The Scots improved to 6-4 overall following their two wins this past weekend. Ray Price led the Scots to their win against Missouri Baptist as the junior guard from Bartlett, Tenn., dropped a career-high 24 points to lead all scorers. Cole Anderson and Grant Patterson also finished in double figures scoring against the Spartans with 11 and 10 points, respectively. For the season, Anderson is leading the Scots with 12.6 points per game, while Price is also averaging double figures scoring at 10.2 points per game.

EC: Ecclesia enters Monday's contest at 3-12 on the season. Three players are averaging over 15 points per game this season for the Royals. Zachary McGee leads the team at 16.2 points per game, followed by Nicholas Coble (15.6 PPG) and Deondre Phillips (15.1 PPG).

BC: Bacone stands at 2-13 on the season ahead of Tuesday night's game against the Scots. La'Corian Ballard, Dean Austin and Jacoby Durant are the players to watch offensively for the Warriors. Ballard is averaging a team-high 18.4 points per game, followed by Austin (16.4 PPG) and Durant (14.0 PPG). Ballard is also the leading rebounder for Bacone at 7.4 rebounds per game.

SERIES HISTORY
The Scots are 12-3 all-time against Ecclesia and 3-0 all-time against Bacone. Lyon last played Ecclesia on Jan. 28, 2019, when the Scots defeated the Royals, 101-63, inside Becknell Gymnasium. Lyon defeated Bacone earlier this season by a score of 73-48 in the first game of the home-and-home series in Muskogee, Okla.

UP NEXT FOR THE SCOTS
Following Tuesday's game against Bacone, the Lyon College men's basketball team will return to American Midwest Conference action with a road game at Williams Baptist on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
