BATESVILLE, Ark. – For the second time this season, the Lyon College men's basketball team made double-digit three-pointers in a game as the Scots finished with 10 as a team in a 65-51 American Midwest Conference win against William Woods on Saturday afternoon.
Grant Patterson started the three-point barrage for the Scots as the sophomore knocked down a triple for his first shot of the game. With the score tied at 3-3 shortly after, the Scots began to pull away and led, 13-8, following a three by Winston Peace. The two teams matched shot-for-shot until WWU knotted the score at 23-23 with 4:43 left in the half. After another bucket by the Owls, Peace and Dominique Loyd knocked down back-to-back threes and gave the Scots a 29-25 lead before settling for a 29-28 lead at the half.
Patterson found his groove in the opening minutes of the second half as he knocked down three triples around a free throw by Cole Anderson and a layup by Loyd that put the Scots up, 41-31. The Scots continued to find success from distance as Patterson and Loyd knocked down another three each and pushed the lead to 16, 53-37, later in the half. Lyon took its largest lead of the game on a layup by Hunter Daley at the 5:34 mark that put the Scots up 18, 59-41, before the Scots settled for a 14-point victory.
Patterson, who finished with a game-high 15 points, shot 5-of-6 from beyond the arc. Dominique Loyd and Cole Anderson pitched in 10 points apiece.
The Scots will return to action on Tuesday night with an American Midwest Conference matchup at Columbia College at 7:30 p.m.
