Top-Ranked Scots Set to Face Owls in AMC Tournament Semifinals

The top-seeded Lyon College women’s basketball team will host No. 4-seed William Woods on Saturday afternoon in the AMC Tournament semifinals

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The top-seeded (No. 11 in NAIA) Lyon College women's basketball team escaped a quarterfinal upset bid by No. 8-seed Central Baptist College on Thursday with a 77-70 win over the Lady Mustangs. With the win, the Scots advanced to the semifinals of the American Midwest Conference Tournament Championship and will host No. 4-seed (No. 25 NAIA) William Woods on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. inside Becknell Gymnasium.

ADMISSION FOR THE GAME
Admission prices for Saturday's game will be $5 for fans 13-and-older and $2 for fans 12-and-under. Passes will not be accepted for admission into the games throughout the AMC Tournament. Lyon College students can get in free if they scan in with the Lyon App at the door.

THE MATCHUP

LYON: Liz Henderson led the charge for the Scots against CBC on Thursday as she netted a team-high 17 points to go along with seven rebounds in the win. Henderson made five three-pointers on Thursday, as she has made 287 in her career. She now needs five more to pass Ali Tucker for the most three-pointers made in a career in program history. Madison Riley recorded her fourth double-double of the season as she finished the game with 14 points and 10 assists. Jade Giron made several key buckets for the Scots as she finished with 16 points in the game.

WWU: William Woods cruised to a 71-54 win at home against Williams Baptist in the quarterfinals on Thursday to set up Saturday's semifinal matchup. Four Owls finished the game in double figures scoring. Kaycee Gerald led the way as she recorded her ninth double-double of the season as she finished with a game-high 16 points and 11 rebounds. Rylie Cox and Peyton Greenlee both scored 14 points, while Ashleigh Frampton chipped in 11.

SERIES HISTORY

The Scots are 17-3 all-time against the Owls after sweeping the two-game, home-and-home series during the regular season.

UP NEXT FOR THE SCOTS

The winner of Saturday's matchup between the Scots and Owls will face the winner of (2) Freed-Hardeman and (3) Columbia College for the AMC Tournament Championship on Tuesday night at 7 p.m., with the higher seed hosting the game.
