BATESVILLE, Ark. – The top-seeded Lyon College women's basketball team escaped an upset bid by No. 8-seed Central Baptist College as the Scots held on for a 77-70 win over the Lady Mustangs in the quarterfinals of the American Midwest Conference Championship Tournament.
The Scots improved to 28-2 and will host No. 4-seed William Woods on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. CBC ended its season at 15-14.

Marleigh Dodson were honored as being named to the AMC Academic All-Conference Team. Davis was also named the Scots' Champion of Character.
Central Baptist College came out tough against the Scots and tied the game at 4-4 on a free throw by Macey Decker. A layup by
Marleigh Dodson sparked an 11-4 run over the next three minutes for the Scots as
Haley Wesley capped off the run with a jumper that put Lyon ahead, 15-6. CBC pulled back within six before the end of the quarter on a layup by Grace Coates.
The Scots pushed their lead to nine to open up the second quarter on a three-point play by
Alexis Moore before The Lady Mustangs rallied back to tie the score at 21-21 on a put-back by Sierra Carrier. Moore quickly put the Scots ahead with a three-pointer off an assist by
Katie Turner. Lyon extended its lead to nine with just over a minute left in the second quarter on a three-pointer by
Jade Giron before a pair of free throws by Coates put the score at 40-33 in favor of the Scots at the half.
Lyon continued to hold a lead against CBC until just after the midway point in the third quarter after a three-pointer by Kory Westerman put the Lady Mustangs ahead, 51-49, with 3:14 left in the period. The two teams went on to trade the lead down the stretch before a three-pointer by
Madison Riley gave the Scots a 54-53 lead heading into the final period.
A 6-0 run to open up the fourth quarter extended the Scots' lead to 60-53. CBC made things interesting late as a free throw by Coates trimmed the deficit to 70-67 with 1:16 left in the game. A three-point play by Dodson sparked the Scots as a pair of free throws by Giron sealed the win for the Scots.
Henderson led the Scots offensively with a team-high 17 points, while Giron chipped in 16. Riley recorded a double-double in the win as she finished with 14 points and 10 assists.
