Men’s Basketball Prepares for Key Matchup at (RV) Park

The Lyon College men’s basketball team will travel to Park on Saturday for its final road game of the 2019-20 regular season

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College men's basketball team earned a pivotal American Midwest Conference victory on Tuesday night as the Scots defeated Freed-Hardeman, 73-59, at home. The Scots currently sit just two games out of first place in the AMC standings and look to remain in the hunt for the conference title when they travel to (RV) Park on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.

THE MATCHUP
LYON: 
Ray Price recorded his first double-double of the season in the win against Freed-Hardeman as he finished the game with 17 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Lyon improved to 17-10 (12-7 AMC) with the win. The Scots tied last year's win total of 17, which tied for the most wins in a regular season since 1984-85. For the season, Price is averaging just below double figures in scoring at 9.8 points per game. Winston Peace and Grant Patterson chipped in 13 points in for the Scots on Tuesday, while Faris Verlasevic added 12 points off the bench.

PARK: The Pirates enter the weekend at 18-6 (13-6 AMC) and will host No. 21 Central Baptist College tonight before the Scots make the trip to town on Saturday. Cory Reeves is the top scorer for Park as he is averaging a team-high 17.1 points per game. Reeves leads the team in field goals made (140), three-point field goals made (38) and steals (46). Ernest Myles III is nearly averaging a double-double this season at 11.0 points per game to go along with 9.2 rebounds per game. Blue Johnson is also averaging double figures in scoring at 10.6 points per game.

SERIES HISTORY
The Scots are 4-14 all-time against the Pirates. Park stole a 63-60 victory over the Scots earlier this season on Jan. 11 inside Becknell Gymnasium.

UP NEXT FOR THE SCOTS
Following Saturday's game at Park, the Scots will host their final two games of the 2019-20 regular season. The Scots will host St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Thursday night before taking on Columbia College on Saturday.
