CONWAY, Ark. – The (RV) Lyon College men's basketball team had its upset bid come up just short at No. 19 Central Baptist College as the Scots fell on the road, 71-61. CBC improved to 18-6 (14-4 AMC), while the Scots fell to 16-10 (11-7 AMC).

The Scots hung with the Mustangs in the opening minutes of the game until CBC jumped out to a 13-4 lead on a three-pointer by Jordan Parker. The Scots responded with a 6-0 run on a pair of buckets by Cole Anderson and another by Ray Price to pull back within three, 13-10. CBC held the Scots scoreless for nearly 10 minutes and took advantage as the Mustangs extended their lead to 31-10 with 4:14 remaining. A pair of free throws by Jonathan Iliya ended the cold spell for the Scots before Winston Peace added a bucket and a free throw as Lyon trailed, 33-16, at the half.

CBC continued to hold a double-digit lead over the Scots until a three-pointer by Grant Patterson brought the Scots back within nine, 45-36, with just under 14 minutes to play. A free throw by Hunter Daley cut the deficit to seven, 48-41, two minutes later before a 14-4 run by the Mustangs extended their lead back to 17. The Scots continued to fight their way back into the game and pulled back within six, 67-61, on a jumper by Price, but that would be as close as the Scots would get the rest of the way.

Four Scots finished in double figures scoring, led by Anderson's team-high 15 points. Price chipped in 14 points, while Peace and Patterson finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Scots will return home on Tuesday night to host Freed-Hardeman at 7:30 p.m. for Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night.
