BATESVILLE, Ark. – The 18th-ranked Lyon College women's basketball team got off to a strong start to begin the second half of its season as the Scots made 13 three-point field goals en route to a 76-47 over Central Baptist College on Saturday afternoon. Lyon improved to 12-1 (8-0 American Midwest Conference) following the victory, while CBC fell to 8-3 (5-3 AMC).

Liz Henderson had a big day for the Scots as she finished 7-for-12 from beyond the arc and scored game-high 23 points. Her seven made threes were one shy of tying the program's single-game record which was set by both April Carter and Morgan Myrick in 2008.

The Scots caught fire early from distance as a pair of three-pointers each by Jade Giron and Henderson gave the Scots a 14-4 lead. Henderson added another triple later in the quarter to push the Scots' lead to 11 before Marleigh Dodson scored a layup just before the buzzer to give Lyon a 21-8 advantage.

CBC managed to cut the deficit to nine midway through the second quarter until a three-pointer by Kristen Baham to push the lead back up to double digits. Lyon ended the half on a 13-0 run, which was capped off by a three-pointer each by Henderson and Madison Riley as the Scots led, 39-17, at the break.

It was all downhill sledding from there for the Scots. A three-point play by Klaudija Bacovic put the Scots up 30, 72-42, with just over four minutes left in the game. Erin Haigwood put the icing on the cake with a tough jumper by the baseline to put Lyon up 32, 74-42.

Behind Henderson's 23 points, Riley followed with 10 points after hitting two triples.

The Scots will travel to No. 9 Freed-Hardeman on Tuesday night for a battle for the top spot in the American Midwest Conference standings. Tip-off for Tuesday's game at FHU is set for 5:30 p.m.
