BATESVILLE, Ark. – The 11th-ranked Lyon College women's basketball team got it rolling early and often in this matchup as the Scots coasted to a 73-50 American Midwest Conference victory inside Becknell Gymnasium tonight in Lyon's annual Coaches vs. Cancer game. With the win, Lyon pushes their record to 18-2 and a 14-1 mark in conference action, while Harris-Stowe State University dips to 4-14 overall and 3-11 in AMC play.

With Lyon leading 6-5 in the opening minutes of the game, the Scots went on a 12-0 run to close the first quarter. Kristin Baham capped off the run as she made a basket to give the Scots an 18-5 lead after the first stanza.

Both sides exchanged baskets early in the second quarter. However, midway through the second frame, Katie Turner grabbed an offensive rebound and scored the layup to put the hosts up by 16 points, 29-13. Jade Giron added to Lyon's lead as she converted a layup to extend the Scots' advantage to 18 points. Lyon took this 18-point cushion into the locker room, 35-17.

Liz Henderson scored a quick six points to open up the third quarter and make the score, 41-19. The Hornets would cut into the lead at 44-28 on a layup by LaDaijha Watson. However, the Scots quickly responded and took a 54-35 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Scots would continue to extend their advantage to as many as 27 points after Jade Giron drove past her defender and finished a layup. Both sides exchanged baskets the remainder of the game as the Scots cruised to a 73-50 victory over the Hornets.

Liz Henderson and Madison Riley each scored 15 points, while Marleigh Dodson finished with a near double-double as she recorded 8 points and 8 rebounds in the contest. Lyon's stellar defense forced Harris-Stowe into tough shots the entire game as the Hornets shot 21.7% from the three-point line and 31.1% from the field.

The Scots will continue their home stand as they take on Hannibal-LaGrange University on Feb. 1 at 1 p.m. for "Alumni Day."
