BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College men's basketball team rallied back from a 13-point deficit with 11:20 remaining in the second half to pull back within one point, 59-58, in the final minute of the game but Park held on for a 63-60 win on Saturday afternoon inside Becknell Gymnasium.
Park improved to 12-3 (7-3 American Midwest Conference) with the win, while the Scots dropped to 10-6 (6-3 AMC).
Prior to the game, Lyon College Assistant Athletic Director for Media and Communications Matt Jagodzinski presented Lyon College head men's basketball coach Chad Tapp a basketball in recognition of Tapp's 100th career win with the program. Tapp earned his 100th win at Lyon last Saturday in the Scots' 65-61 win over No. 18 Central Baptist College.

After a bucket by Cory Reeves gave Park a 50-37 lead with 11:20 left to play, the Scots began to climb their way back into the game. Sam Chumley knocked down a pair of big buckets for the Scots off the bench and sparked a 21-9 run over a 10-minute stretch as a free throw by Cole Anderson brought the Scots back within one at 59-58 with 1:26 remaining.
A pair of key offensive rebounds led to a basket by Quez Williamson that extended the Pirates' lead back to three a minute later. The Scots answered back with a layup by Winston Peace off an assist by Anderson.
With the shot clock off, the Scots were forced to foul as Shahadah Camp knocked down a pair of free throws to extend the Pirates' lead to three once again. Lyon had one final look at the basket but was unable to connect on a game-tying three-point attempt.
Anderson led the Scots with a team-high 19 points while Faris Verlasevic added 11 points off the bench.
The Scots will open up a four-game AMC road trip at St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Jan. 16 at 7:30 p.m.
