BATESVILLE, Ark. – Coming off a win over NCAA Division I Mississippi Valley State University last week, the Lyon College volleyball team is ready for their second home match of the season tomorrow night. The Scots will take on Crowley's Ridge College inside Becknell Gymnasium on Sept. 17. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
The Matchup
Crowley's Ridge College: The Lady Pioneers carry a 1-8 record into Batesville tomorrow as CRC has lost their last eight matches this season. CRC uses a trio of outside hitters to keep opponents guessing as Olivia Deckelman, Kaitlyn Stebelton, and Bailey Loge have combined for 132 kills during the 2019 campaign. Bailey Tosh leads the Lady Pioneers in assists with 88, while Kaitlyn Perkins has a team-high 132 digs.
Lyon College: The Scots are 7-5 this year after besting Tougaloo College and Mississippi Valley State University in the Tougaloo Tri-Match last week. Lyon has been dynamite at the net this season as
Michayla Shanks has tallied 95 kills to lead all Scots.
Kendra Kelley is second on the team with 88 kills, while
Alley Edwards and
Gracen Ratliff follow closely behind with 77 and 73 kills, respectively.
Maggee Hobson totaled four service aces in Lyon's win over MVSU to bring her total to a team-best 21.
Kaitlyn Jackson is ranked seventh in the American Midwest Conference with 187 assists. Defensively,
Destiny Nunez has etched a team-leading 99 digs, while
Maria Eleni Bampiri has accumulated 19 blocks through the first 12 matches.
Series History
The Scots hold an unblemished 13-0 record all-time against Crowley's Ridge College. In their most recent meeting on Oct. 2, 2018, the Scots edged the Lady Pioneers in five sets (29-27, 22-25, 25-13, 19-25, 15-10).
