BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College women's soccer team travels to Texas to compete in the Texas A&M University-Texarkana Tournament. The Scots will begin the tournament with a non-conference tilt against Texas A&M-Texarkana on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
The Matchup
Texas A&M University-Texarkana: This will be the third match of the season for the Texas A&M-Texarkana Eagles. The Eagles, a member of the Red River Athletic Conference, opened up the 2019 campaign with a pair of shutout victories over Bethany College and Williams Baptist University. Texas A&M-Texarakana is led up front by a trio of players who have each recorded two goals on the year – Emily Juarez, Alexandra Martinez, and Dulce Memije. The Eagles will lean on goalkeeper, Tinotenda Charuma, who has recorded 9 saves en route to two clean sheets.
Lyon College: This will be the second match of the season for the Lyon College Scots. Lyon is coming off a 15-0 victory over Bacone College on Tuesday. The Scots are led up front by
Sarah Evans and
Kimberly Fretwell. Fretwell and Evans each recorded a hat-trick in the first game of the season. Four Scots have a team-best two assists –
Alexandria Denton,
Sarah Evans,
Hailey Gonzales, and
Kate Whitenton. The Scots used three goalkeepers in the first game of the season in
Claire Coley,
Cassidy Powell, and
Tabetha Troxler to blank Bacone College.
Series History
This will be the first meeting between the two sides.
