BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College women's soccer team cruised to a 15-0 win over Bacone College on Tuesday. The Scots used 10 first half goals to win the season opener.
Lyon is now 1-0 on the season, while Bacone College falls to 0-1 on the year.
GAME FLOW
Lyon exploded out of the gate as the Scots would score four goals in the first ten minutes of the match.
Sarah Evans scored the first two of the match, while
Kimberly Fretwell and
Hailey Gonzales followed suit with a goal apiece in the seventh and eighth minute, respectively. Fretwell was not done there as she would add another goal in the 14
th minute.
Caitlynn Porter, then, got in on the action as she scored her first two collegiate goals in the 23
rd and 31
st minute, giving the Scots a 7-0 lead.
Hailey Gonzales and
Kimberly Fretwell would score once more, before
Kate Whitenton scored her first as a Scot in the 38
th minute, giving Lyon a 10-0 advantage as the halftime whistle blew.
The superb passing and excellent finishing would continue in the second half as
Emma Brandes scored her first goal of the 2019 season in the 54
th minute. The Scots would score three goals in four minutes early in the second half as
Lauren Murray,
Sarah Evans, and
Alexandria Denton each recorded a goal of their own. Murray would tack on one more goal in the 75
th minute, earning the Scots a 15-0 victory over Bacone on Tuesday afternoon.
