PARKVILLE, Mo. – Lyon College opened the 2019 season with a tough test against the No. 17 Central Methodist University Eagles in the Park University Tournament. The Scots fought hard and tested CMU all afternoon. However, the Eagles prevailed in three sets over the visitors from Batesville.
Lyon is now 0-1 overall on the season, while No. 17 Central Methodist University improves to 4-0.
GAME FLOW
In the first set, the Eagles jumped out to an early 12-8 advantage over the Scots. Lyon battled back, though, to pull the match within a single point at 16-15. However, CMU went on a 9-5 run to win the first set of the match.
CMU carried their momentum into the second stanza, winning the first eight points of the set. The Eagles would hold a comfortable lead the rest of the frame, taking the second set by a score of 25-10.
Lyon and CMU were knotted up early in the third set. While the Scots fought valiantly throughout the entire match, CMU's trio of Grace Stumbaugh, Callie Henson, and Jane Kickham proved to be too much as the Eagles won the third frame, 25-18, to take the match in straight sets.

WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE SCOTS
Lyon continues play in the Park University Tournament tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The Scots will take on Park University Gilbert in the 10:00 a.m. match and battle St. Ambrose University in the 2:00 p.m. tilt.
