Box Score SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – The Lyon College men's soccer team fell to John Brown University on Friday night, 7-1. The Golden Eagles used two first half goals and five consecutive second half goals to propel JBU to victory.
Lyon is now 0-2 overall, while John Brown moves to 2-0 on the year.
GAME FLOW
The Golden Eagles got on the scoreboard first in this one. In the 12
th minute, Oscar Carbello struck a shot just outside the box to give JBU a 1-0 advantage. The Golden Eagles would increase their lead in the 27
th minute as Jacob Zamarron raced up the field and lofted a shot just over the
Gianni Santin's outstretched arms to extend JBU's lead to two.
The visitors from Batesville played with only 10 men for the majority of the second half as
Ignacio Zuniga received a red card in the 52
nd minute. Even playing a man down, the Scots continued to apply pressure on JBU's defense. Lyon broke through in the 61
st minute when
Nate Ayalew got behind the defense on a counter attack. Ayalew swiftly slid the ball past the goalie from just inside the box to cut the deficit in half. JBU, however, would respond with five consecutive goals to put the match out of reach as the Golden Eagles defeated the Scots by a score of 7-1.
