JOPLIN, Mo. The final game in the first day of the American Midwest Conference Baseball Tournament opened up as a pitcher's duel between the No. 4-seed Lyon College baseball team and No. 5-seed Central Baptist College. Marcelo Terrazas from Lyon College and Dillon Bonee of CBC kept the game close as Lyon took a 2-1 advantage into the seventh inning. Both offenses came to life in the late innings. The Scots added to their lead with three runs in the bottom of the seventh before CBC responded with six runs in the top of the ninth and took the game, 7-5.

CBC improved to 26-25 on the season and will face No. 1-seed Freed-Hardeman at 4 p.m. on Thursday. Lyon dropped to 37-19 on the year and will face No. 8-seed Park in the first elimination game of the tournament at 11 a.m. on Thursday.

Central Baptist College scored first with a run in the top of the opening inning on an RBI-single by Austin Kuchinski. The Scots answered back with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the frame. Jake Michener led the inning off with a single to right field before he moved up to third on a double by Kylan Barnett. Alan West followed with an RBI-groundout to tie the game at one before Troy Strack singled home Barnett in the next at-bat to give the Scots a 2-1 advantage.

Terrazas and Bonee controlled the game on the mound until the Scots broke through once again in the bottom of the seventh. Tanner Seibel got hit by a pitch to open up the inning ahead of a single by Ryan Clack.  Michener moved the pair up an extra base with a groundout as the Mustangs intentionally walked Barnett to load up the bases for West. West made the Mustangs pay the price as he singled to center to score a pair and extended the Scots' lead to 4-1. Kyle West added a sacrifice fly later in the inning to put the Scots ahead, 5-1.

The Mustangs rallied back in the top of the ninth with six runs in the frame and earned a comeback victory against the Scots.

Sam Murfin got tagged with the loss on the mound for the Scots.

Strack and Clack collected two hits each in the game for Lyon, while Alan West drove in three runs.
