WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. Just hours after the third-seeded Lyon College baseball team earned a thrilling comeback victory over No. 5-seed Baker, the Scots ended the day with another exciting victory, this time against No. 4-seed Mobile. Lyon and Mobile headed to extra innings tied at 10-10 as the Scots come out victorious with an 11-10 victory in 12 innings on a game-winning sacrifice fly off the bat of Tristan Buschow.

The Scots improved to 40-21 on the season and will face No. 1-seed University of the Cumberlands at 12 p.m. (CDT) on Wednesday in an elimination game. The winner between the Scots and Patriots will face Indiana Tech approximately 30 minutes following the conclusion of their game. Lyon and Cumberlands will have to defeat Indiana Tech two times to win the Williamsburg Bracket, while Indiana Tech needs just one victory to earn the title and advance to the Avista-NAIA World Series.

Mobile struck first with a run in the top of the first before the Scots answered back with three runs in the bottom of the first and four more in the bottom of the second to take a 7-1 advantage over the Rams. Kyle West drove in all three runs in the bottom of the first with a double. Kylan Barnett drove in three runs of his own with a three-run home run over the wall in right field in the bottom of the second before Buschow added another run for the Scots later in the inning with an RBI-double.

The Rams added another run in the top of the third on an RBI-single by Blake Carnley before the Scots responded with two runs of their own on back-to-back solo home runs by Jake Michener and Barnett.

Things got interesting in the middle innings as the Rams trimmed the deficit to 10-7. Mobile scored two runs in the fifth and added three more in the top of the sixth. The Scots held their three-run lead until the Rams tied the game at 10-10 with three runs in the top of the ninth.

After a pair of scoreless innings by each side to open up the extra frames, a pair of errors by the Mobile defense sparked a rally for the Scots in the bottom of the 12th. West followed the two errors with a single to shallow right field that loaded the bases for the Scots and set the stage for Buschow. Buschow sent a ball into center field that was just deep enough as Alan West was able to come home on the sacrifice fly for the game-winning run.

Michener and Barnett led the Scots offensively as the pair collected three hits and scored three runs each. Barnett also drove in five runs during the game. Barnett and Alan West moved into the top five all-time for total hits in a single season in program history. Barnett also moved into the top five for runs scored in a single season.

Reese Chovanec earned the win in relief as he tossed three innings of two-hit baseball. Chovanec struck out one batter in the game.
