Lyon won the first two games of a three-game series by scores of 9-0 and 12-1. The Scots will go for the series sweep against the Pirates at noon on Saturday at Scots Field.

Game One: #17 Lyon 9, Park 0
Terrazas dominated on the mound in the first game of Friday's twin bill against the Pirates. Terrazas was perfect through five innings until the Pirates collected a pair of singles in the sixth inning. The two hits in the sixth inning was all the offense the Pirates could generate against Terrazas as he earned a complete-game victory. Terrazas fanned six Pirates over seven innings pitched.
While Terrazas held the Pirates in check, the Scots' offense got things rolling right from the opening inning.
Kyle West drove in
Jake Michener with an RBI-groundout in the bottom of the first before the Scots added five more runs in the bottom of the fifth to extend their lead to 6-0.
Lyon got things going again in the bottom of the fourth as
Dalton Ernest, Michener and
Troy Strack opened up the frame with three-straight singles. Strack plated Ernest with his base knock before Michener scored on an error by the Pirates. West doubled home Strack later in the inning with a ball deep down the right-field line to put the score at 9-0 in favor of the Scots.
Terrazas took care of the rest for the Scots as Lyon took game one, 9-0.
Michener and
Ryan Clack both collected two hits each in the series opener for the Scots.
Game Two: #17 Lyon 12, Park 1
The nightcap of Friday's twin bill had a similar tune as game one as Porras followed up Terrazas' strong pitching performance with a gem of his own on the mound. Porras allowed one unearned run on three hits while striking out four over six innings pitched.
Alan West finished the game with his first collegiate appearance on the mound. West struck out two batters and did not allow a hit in his inning of work.
Offensively, the Scots responded to an unearned run by the Pirates in the top of the first with 12-unanswered runs. Lyon scored five runs in the bottom half of the first before
Kylan Barnett added an RBI-single in the bottom of the second.
In the bottom of the third,
Andrew Schnitzius started another rally with a lead-off double before
Darius Anderson came on to run for Schnitzius. Clack followed with a bunt-single to put runners on the corners for Ernest, who singled home Anderson. Some heads-up base running led to the next run in the inning for the Scots as a wild pitch bounced away from the Pirates' catcher and allowed Clack to slide in safely just ahead of the tag. Michener added a sacrifice fly later in the inning to extend the Scots' lead to 9-1.
After a quiet fourth inning, the Scots added to their total in the fifth and sixth innings. The Scots worked the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth to open up the frame after a double by Clack followed by two hit batters. Michener plated two more runs for the Scots with a two-run single. Lyon added one more run in the sixth on an RBI-groundout by
Brandon Giribaldie before West shut the door in the top of the seventh to give the Scots the run-rule victory.
Clack finished the nightcap 3-for-3 at the plate with one RBI and two runs scored. Michener, Strack, Barnett and Schnitzius added two hits each in the game.
