Game One: TAMUT 7, Lyon 4
Lyon got on the board first against the Eagles in game one of Tuesday's twin bill with two runs in the bottom of the second inning. Jake Michener drove in the first run of the game with an RBI-double before Troy Strack followed with an RBI-single to plate Michener.
TAMUT followed with seven-unanswered runs before the Scots cut the deficit to three with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth. A pair of errors by the Eagles followed by a walk to Tanner Seibel loaded the bases for Michener. Michener drew a bases-loaded walk to plate the first run of the frame before Reese Chovanec scored on a fly ball off the bat of Strack. TAMUT limited the damage to just the two runs and held on for a 7-4 win over the Scots.
Brock Beacham suffered the loss as he allowed five runs (four earned) on five hits over five innings pitched.
Tristan Buschow and Chovanec also recorded a hit in the game for the Scots.
Game Two: TAMUT 5, Lyon 0
Texas A&M-Texarkana scored four runs in the first inning and added another run in the top of the second as that was all the offense the Eagles needed as they completed the doubleheader sweep with a 5-0 win over the Scots in the nightcap.
Kylan Barnett collected two hits in the game for the Scots.
Tanner Johnson took the loss as he allowed five runs (four earned) on five hits over two innings pitched. Jordan Olivera had a solid outing in relief as he struck out seven batters over four innings of scoreless relief.
The Scots will travel to Lawrenceville, Ga., for a three-game series against No. 7 Georgia Gwinnett College this weekend. Lyon and GGC will open up their series on Friday at 3 p.m. (central time).
