Scots Tripped Up in First Day of Gulf Shores Invitational

Game One: Keiser 2, Lyon 1
The score remained knotted at zero until the fourth inning. In the bottom of the fourth, the Seahawks put runners on second and third with nobody out. Keiser University's Janelle Dominguez delivered an RBI single to center field, scoring Lexi Northway. The Seahawks would score another run on a double play, giving Keiser a 2-0 lead heading into the fifth inning.

Lyon responded in the top of the sixth, however, as Addison Harmon led the frame off with an infield single and a stolen base. After a groundout by Cheyenne Herrera advanced Harmon to third, Breanna Langford worked a walk to put runners on the corner. Faith Cornmesser, then, delivered a pinch-hit single to left field, plating Harmon. The Seahawks would work out of trouble, though, keeping the score 2-1.

The Scots were unable to get a rally started in the seventh and went down in order, falling 2-1 to the Seahawks in the first game of the day.

Katelyn Platt led the Scots in the circle. Platt threw all six innings, while striking out four and allowing two unearned runs. Offensively, Addison Harmon and Cheyenne Herrera led the way for the Scots as they both recorded two hits in the game.
