Game One: Lyon 5, Avila 2
The Scots opened the scoring in the third inning. The inning began with a leadoff double by Kendra Kelley. After a walk by Megan Micke, Cheyenne Blacklaced a 2-RBI triple, putting the Scots up 2-0. Breanna Langford kept the rally going as she hit an RBI double, plating Black. After an Addison Harmon sac bunt advanced Langford to third, Mikayla Mullen brought home Langford with a successfully executed squeeze bunt. This gave Lyon a 4-0 advantage after three innings.
The Scots would tack on one more run in the bottom of the fourth inning as Mikayla Mullen executed the squeeze play once more, scoring Harmon who led the inning off with a single.
Avila University would answer back, however, in the fifth inning as the Eagles recorded three straight singles and a sac fly to help cut the lead to just three heading into the bottom of the fifth.
Katelyn Platt and the Lyon defense would hold the Eagles scoreless over the final two innings, earning the Scots the opening day victory. Katelyn Platt struck out five Eagles en route to a complete game win. Cheyenne Black paced the Scots with 2 hits on the afternoon.
Game Two: Lyon 6, Bethany 5
Bethany started quickly, scoring two runs in the first inning. After a two out walk and a single, Hannah Seals hit a 2-RBI double, giving the Swedes a 2-0 advantage. The Swedes tacked on a run in the second and third inning to extend their lead to four.
The Scots and Swedes each scored a run in the fourth inning, making the score 5-1 Swedes heading into the fifth inning.
Lyon would use a huge fifth inning rally to mount the comeback. Faith Cornmesser opened the inning off with a single. Addison Harmon, then, walked. After a failed fielder's choice brought home Cornmesser, Cheyenne Herrera delivered a 2-out 2-RBI single, cutting Bethany's lead to just one. Megan Micke, then, launched a 2-run home run, giving the Scots their first lead of the game, 6-5.
The Scots held the Swedes scoreless over the final two innings, securing their second victory of the day.
Cornmesser went 3-for-4, while also earning her first collegiate win in the circle as she threw 5 and 2/3 innings. Katelyn Platt earned her first save of the season pitching 1 and 1/3 innings.

The Scots continue play in the Cowtown Classic tomorrow as they take on Southwestern Assemblies of God University at 2:00 p.m. and Huston Tillotson University at 4:00 p.m.
