Men's Basketball Tops LUB On Senior Day; Earns No. 7-Seed In AMC Tournament

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College men's basketball team ended its 2018-19 regular season on a high note with a 75-71 victory over Lindenwood-Belleville on Senior Day. With the win, the Scots earned the No. 7-seed in the American Midwest Conference and will travel to No. 2-seed Park on Thursday night at 7 p.m. in the quarterfinals.

Lyon ended its regular season at 17-13 (11-11 AMC), while LUB ended its season at 4-26 (4-18 AMC).

Prior to the start of the game, the Lyon College men's basketball team honored its three seniors – Emir SabicEric Moses and Antanas Krimelis – as part of Saturday's Senior Day celebration.

Lyon got off to a strong start to begin the game on Saturday as a bucket by Krimelis opened up a 13-2 run, which was capped off by a jumper by Faris Verlasevic just over six minutes into the contest. LUB rallied back and cut the deficit to three just a couple minutes later before a free throw by Blake Bradshaw opened up another big run for the Scots. Moses followed the free throw by Bradshaw with a bucket of his own before Krimelis and Verlasevic added to the run to push the lead back to double-digits at 27-15. Once again, the Lynx showed some fight and clawed back into the game and cut the score to 37-33 just before the half after a pair of free throws by Jahkeal Samuel.

The two teams exchanged runs to open up the second half. After Lyon extended its lead to nine, LUB cut the deficit back to four at 42-38 on a bucket by Kamron Matthewson with 15:07 left in the game. The Scots began to take control of the game midway through the half and relied on Moses to lead the charge. Moses accounted for 14 of the next 21 points for the Scots, including eight straight at one point to give Lyon a 65-47 lead. The Scots' held a double-digit lead over Lindenwood-Belleville until the Lynx made it a close game in the final two minutes of the contest. A jumper by Shakari Hawkins opened up a big run for LUB as the Lynx pulled back within three points with just over 30 seconds remaining. The Scots sealed the victory from the charity stripe as Ray Price and Emir Sabic converted on a pair of free throws each to hold off the comeback.

Moses led the way with a game-high 21 points, while Verlasevic added 18. Price recorded a double-double in the game as he finished with 10 points to go along with 13 rebounds.
