Cougars Steal One Late From Scots In Second Half

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Lyon College men's basketball team held a lead against Columbia College for much of the game on Saturday, but a 15-6 run by the Cougars gave CC a 43-42 lead with 5:08 remaining in the contest. The Cougars held onto their lead the rest of the way and stole a 57-52 win over the Scots. CC improved to 15-13 (10-11 American Midwest Conference), while Lyon fell to 16-12 (10-10 AMC).

After taking a 23-17 lead at the half over the Cougars, the Scots extended their lead to as many as 11 three separate times during the first five minutes of the second half, with the final time occurring at the 15:23 mark on a bucket by Ray Price that gave Lyon a 32-21 advantage. The two teams went on to exchange buckets until Columbia used the 15-6 run to overtake the lead. The Scots stayed within five points of the Cougars but two final free throws by Desmond Funches sealed the win for Columbia.

Blake Bradshaw led the Scots offensively with a team-high 13 points.

The Scots will return home for their final two regular season games next week. The Scots will open up their final home stand on Thursday against Harris-Stowe at 7:30 p.m.
