[RV] Men’s Basketball Prepares for Trip to ‘Show-Me State’

The Lyon College men’s basketball team will play two American Midwest Conference games in Missouri this weekend

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The [RV] Lyon College men's basketball team remained unbeaten in American Midwest Conference play as the Scots defeated Williams Baptist last night, 69-60. The win moved Lyon to 3-0 in the conference and 7-2 overall as the Scots will travel to "The Show-Me State" for two more AMC games this weekend. The Scots will play at Harris-Stowe on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and end the road trip at Hannibal-LaGrange on Saturday for a 3 p.m. tip-off.

THE MATCHUP
LYON: 
Grant Patterson led the Scots in their win over Williams Baptist with a team-high 17 points. Ray Price and Hunter Daley also finished in double figures in scoring with 13 and 11 points, respectively. The trio consists of the top three scorers for the Scots this season. Daley is averaging a team-high 11.8 points per game. Price is averaging 9.4 points per game, while Patterson is averaging 8.6 points per game.

HSSU: Harris-Stowe enters Thursday's conference game at 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the AMC. The Hornets earned a 90-75 win at William Woods on Tuesday. HSSU rosters the current front-runner for the AMC Player of the Year in Deshawn Munson. Munson has recorded three triple-doubles and two double-doubles in the five games he has played this season. He currently ranks third in the NAIA in scoring at 27.6 points per game. He leads the NAIA in assists per game (9.6), ranks second in defensive rebounds per game (9.4) and is fifth in total rebounds per game (11.2). He also ranks eighth in the country in field goal percentage (67.1%).

HLG: Hannibal-LaGrange sports a record of 1-5 overall and a 0-2 mark in the AMC. The Trojans will host [RV] Central Baptist College on Thursday before the Scots make the trip to Hannibal on Saturday. Ryan and Wyatt Ward are the top two scorers on the team. R. Ward is averaging 14.0 points per game, while W. Ward is just behind him at 12.2 ppg. Grant Peters is also averaging double figures in scoring for the Trojans at 10.7 points per game.  

SERIES HISTORY
The Scots currently hold a 9-8 lead in the all-time series against Harris-Stowe and a 10-4 advantage over HLG.

Lyon split both two-game series against HSSU and HLG last season with the road team winning each game.

UP NEXT FOR THE SCOTS
Following this weekend's conference games, the Scots will have a two-week break before returning to action on Dec. 21 at home against William Woods. The Dec. 21 game against WWU will be Military Appreciation Day with a 3 p.m. tip-off.
