BATESVILLE, Ark. – The (RV) Lyon College men's basketball team will return home to host Williams Baptist in an American Midwest Conference matchup on Tuesday night before opening up a two-game road trip later this weekend. Tuesday night's game has been deemed Ugly Christmas Sweater Night with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.
THE MATCHUP
LYON: The Scots enter Tuesday night's game at 6-2 overall and 2-0 in the AMC. The Scots are one of 10 teams receiving votes in the first NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, which was released last week. It is the first time the Scots have received votes in the poll since the 2014-15 season. Hunter Daley is the leading scorer for the Scots through their first eight games this season. Daley is averaging 11.9 points per game. Daley has done most of his damage from beyond the arc as he leads the team with 21 made three-point field goals and is shooting 42.9% from distance.
WBU: Williams Baptist sports a 1-4 record overall and a 0-1 mark in the AMC. Three players are averaging double figures in scoring so far this season for the Eagles. Shackeel Butters is averaging a double-double this season as he leads the team in both scoring (15.6 points per game) and rebounding (13.4 rebounds per game). Travon Cobb is second on the team in scoring at 14.8 points per game, while Marquez Chew is third at 12.4 points per game.
SERIES HISTORY
The Scots hold a convincing, 45-18, advantage in the all-time series against WBU. The Scots swept the two-game series last season, including a 64-55 victory on Nov. 27, 2018, inside Becknell Gymnasium.
UP NEXT FOR THE SCOTS
Following Tuesday night's game against WBU, the Scots will head to Missouri for two American Midwest Conference matchups. Lyon will face Harris-Stowe on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. and end the road trip on Saturday at Hannibal-LaGrange at 3 p.m.
