Football Hosts Arizona Christian for Senior Day

The Lyon College football team will host Arizona Christian for Senior Day on Saturday

BATESVILLE, Ark. -- The Lyon College football team made history this past weekend when the Scots went on the road and beat No. 12 Ottawa-Arizona, 18-14. It marked the first victory for the Scots over a ranked opponent in the modern-era. With the win, the Scots remain in the hunt for at least a share of the Sooner Athletic Conference title and a potential playoff berth. Lyon has two more hurdles to get over starting with Saturday's game against Arizona Christian. Kickoff for Saturday's game against the Firestorm is scheduled for 2 p.m. The Scots are 0-4 all-time against ACU.

SCOUTING THE SCOTS

The Scots moved to 6-2 overall and 5-1 in the SAC following their win against No. 12 OUAZ. Prior to Saturday's contest, the Scots will honor 12 players – Emetrious Scott, Josh Sierra, Reace Kinley, Jake Wilson, Josh Abel, Sam Taylor, Jonathan Hicks, Jacob Heinrich, Jacob Reithemeyer, Austin Murphy, Kareem Warren and Rush Warren – as part of Saturday's Senior Day recognition.

Isaiah Bradford and Randy Satterfield have been a staple of the Scots' offense all year as the duo have broken several records for the Lyon College football program this year. Bradford holds the record for most passing touchdowns (5) and passing yards (462) in a single game. He and Satterfield connected on a 99-yard touchdown earlier this season, which is the longest play from scrimmage. Bradford currently owns the record for most passing touchdowns in a single season with 18 entering Saturday's game and needs just 172 more passing yards to pass Cody Jones, who threw for a program-record 1,813 yards in 2017. Satterfield moved into first all-time in single-season receiving yards this past weekend as he now has 658 on the year. He already holds the record for the most touchdown receptions with nine entering Saturday's game. He needs 11 more receptions and 11 more points scored to break those single-season records.

Senior Sam Taylor continues to lead the Scots defense as he racked up a game-high 10 total tackles against the Spirit. Taylor leads the Scots with a team-high 75 tackles on the year. Jace Stewart had one of his best performances of the season at OUAZ. Stewart collected nine total tackles and broke up three passes.

SCOUTING THE FIRESTORM

Arizona Christian enters Saturday's game at 4-4 overall and 4-2 in the SAC after defeating Texas Wesleyan, 45-35, on the road last weekend.

Aidan Quinn and Jon Cole are the two players to watch on the offensive side of the football for the Firestorm. Quinn is the leading rusher on the team with 507 yards on the ground on 132 attempts. He has scored a team-high seven rushing touchdowns. Quinn is also third on the team in receptions with 16 catches out of the backfield for 139 yards. Cole is the leading receiver with 35 catches for 647 yards and six scores.

The Scots will have to do their part in slowing down Jaron Green as he is the top defensive player for ACU. Green enters Saturday's game leading the team in tackles (48), tackles-for-loss (13) and sacks (3.5). Green ranks in the top 15 in the NAIA in forced fumbles per game (0.3) and in the top 20 for tackles for loss.

UP NEXT

Following Saturday's game against ACU, the Scots will head out to Goodwell, Okla., for their final regular season game of the year on Nov. 16 at Oklahoma Panhandle State. Kickoff for the Nov. 16 game at OPSU is scheduled for 2 p.m.

**The Scot Shop will be OPEN Saturday, November 9 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
