Men's Tournament Bracket
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Lyon College men's soccer team has qualified for the American Midwest Conference Tournament as the No. 2 seed, the conference office announced on Sunday.
The Scots are scheduled to play the No. 7 seed Lindenwood University-Belleville Lynx at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at Huser Field. If the Scots can win the quarterfinal match against the Lynx, they would also host the semifinal match.
Lyon is currently 13-4-1 on the season and finished conference play with a 9-1-1 record. This will be the men's eighth straight AMC Tournament appearance, and the second consecutive time hosting a quarterfinal match. The Scots, winners of six consecutive matches, received seven votes in the latest NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Poll.
The Scots are led up front by
Raimundo Cabello and
Marcos Fernandez. Cabello has tallied 10 goals on the year, while Fernandez has recorded an AMC-best 16 assists to go along with 10 goals scored.
Rafael Santos has scored eight goals and recorded five assists on the year, while
Emanuel Santos has posted 10 assists and scored six times during the 2019 campaign. Lyon College goalkeeper,
Vicente Alamos, has totaled a team-best 54 saves, including five clean sheets.
The Lindenwood University-Belleville Eagles enter the tournament with an 8-8-1 overall record and 5-6 mark in the conference. The Lynx are coming off a road loss to Hannibal LaGrange University on Saturday. LUB is led offensively by Milaim Hysa and Drew Travis. Hysa has a team-high seven goals on the year to go along with two assists, while Travis has recorded a team-best four assists on the season. The Lynx will rely on their goalkeeper, Adrian Mana, who has made 44 saves in the 2019 campaign.
Lyon and Lindenwood University-Belleville last met on September 28
th as the Scots defeated the Lynx by a score of 1-0 in 2OT.
