BATESVILLE, Ark. – The No. 3 seed Lyon College men's soccer team squares off with No. 2 seed Missouri Valley College on Friday in the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Opening Round. The match will begin at 12:00 p.m.
 
The Matchup
Missouri Valley College: The Missouri Valley College Vikings enter the match with a 12-6 overall record. The Vikings, a member of the Heart of America Athletic Conference, are coming off a quarterfinal loss in their conference tournament to Baker University on November 8
th. Missouri Valley is led offensively by Dominic Newton and Ruben Jimenez. Newton and Jimenez have each scored nine goals and recorded four assists apiece on the year. The Vikings will rely on their goalkeeper, Andrej Vidali, who has made 58 saves in the 2019 campaign.   
 
Lyon College: The Lyon College Scots are currently 15-5-1 on the season. The Scots are coming off a finals loss to Columbia College on Friday. Lyon is led up front by 
Marcos Fernandez and 
Raimundo Cabello. Fernandez has recorded an AMC-best 16 assists to go along with 13 goals scored, while Cabello has tallied 10 goals on the year. 
Rafael Santos has scored nine goals and recorded six assists, while 
Emanuel Santos has posted 12 assists and scored six times during the 2019 campaign. Lyon College goalkeeper, 
Vicente Alamos, has totaled a team-best 69 saves, including six clean sheets.
 
This will be the first meeting between the two sides.
