FULTON, Mo. – William Woods University used a first-half goal to defeat Lyon College by a score of 1-0 on Saturday.
Lyon finishes the season with a 7-10 overall record, 4-8 in the AMC, while William Woods University improves to 11-7 overall, 10-2 in the AMC.
GAME FLOW
The Owls got on the board just 16 seconds into the match. WWU's Tayler LePage struck a shot into the back of the net, giving William Woods a 1-0 advantage. The Scots generated a pair of shots in the first half, but were unable to find the back of the net. As the halftime whistle sounded the score remained, 1-0 in favor of the Owls.
Each side created chances throughout the second half. The Owls recorded 14 shots on goal in the second half, but the terrific goalkeeping of
Cassidy Powell kept WWU from adding to their lead. Similar to the first half, Lyon generated a pair of chances, but were unable to find the equalizer, and fell to the Owls by a score of 1-0 on Saturday.
