Scots Rout Owls, 6-0

Lyon Men’s Soccer Defeated William Woods University, 6-0, on Saturday

FULTON, Mo. – The Lyon College men's soccer team used two first-half goals and four second-half goals to defeat William Woods University by a score of 6-0 Saturday afternoon.

Lyon moves to 13-4-1 overall, 9-1-1 in the AMC, while William Woods University falls to 6-12 overall, 4-7 in the AMC. 
 
GAME FLOW 
The Scots wasted no time as Lyon got the scoring going just over a minute into the match. Vitor Fujiwara delivered a nice pass to Rafael Santos. Santos struck a shot past the keeper and into the back of the net, giving Lyon a 1-0 advantage. In the 14th minute, Rafael Santos found a cutting Emanuel Santos who dribbled around a defender and slid a shot into the back of the net, doubling Lyon's lead. As the halftime whistle sounded, the match remained 2-0 in favor of the Scots.

The Scots maintained their two-goal advantage until late in the second half. In the 73rd minute, Marcos Fernandez scored his 10th goal of the season off a free kick, extending Lyon's lead to three. Just seven minutes later, Enrico Grillo found Rafael Santos who delivered his second goal of the match, giving the Scots a 4-0 lead. Lyon would go on to score two late goals as Estiven Garcia and Raimundo Cabello netted a goal in the 86th and 89th minute, respectively, earning the Scots a 6-0 victory over William Woods University on Saturday.  

KEY STATISTICS
Raimundo Cabello tallied his 10th goal of the year.
Rafael Santos scored his seventh and eighth goals of the season this afternoon.
Emanuel Santos now has six goals in the 2019 campaign, while Estiven Garcia has scored four times.
Estiven Garcia and Vitor Fujiwara each recorded their fourth assist of the season today.
Vicente Alamos made a match-high seven saves, en route to his fifth clean sheet of the season.

WHAT'S AHEAD FOR THE SCOTS
The Scots will host No. 7 seed Lindenwood University-Belleville in the quarterfinals of the AMC Tournament on Saturday, November 9th.
