TALLADEGA, Ala. – The Lyon College men's basketball team went up against a talented Faulkner team to open up play at the Talladega College Classic on Friday afternoon. The Scots dropped their first game in the two-day classic to the Eagles by a score of 77-55.

Faulkner improved to 5-1 on the season, while Lyon slipped to 3-1.

Faulkner gave the Scots a challenge as the Eagles shot 51% from the field for the game (26-for-51) and limited Lyon to just under 30% shooting (17-for-57).

The Eagles jumped out to a 12-3 lead over the Scots before a pair of free throws by Dominique Loyd cut the deficit to 12-5. Faulkner responded with another 12-3 run to extend its lead to 24-6 before Zalek Sharp ended the run with a three-point basket. Faulkner continued to hold its lead and took a 39-22 advantage into the half.

The Scots hung with the Eagles in the second half as Faulkner only outscored Lyon by five in the second half (38-33).

Ray Price finished as the top scorer for the Scots with 12 points.

Jamon Moore scored a game-high 14 points for Faulkner, while Nate Bradley added 12.

The Scots will conclude their tournament play at the Talladega College Classic tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. against Rust College.
