COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Lyon College volleyball team traveled to Missouri to take on the No. 3 seed, Columbia College, in the American Midwest Conference Tournament Quarterfinals tonight. Lyon showed resilience all night, but the Cougars proved to be too much for the visitors from Batesville as Columbia swept Lyon (25-17, 25-15, 25-19).
Lyon finishes the year at 20-15 overall and 7-5 in the AMC. Meanwhile, Columbia improves to 27-4 on the season and 10-2 in conference action. Columbia will take on Missouri Baptist in the semifinals of the AMC Tournament.

GAME FLOW
With the first set knotted at 4 apiece in the early going, the Cougars used a 6-1 run to take a five-point advantage, 10-5. The Scots would trim Columbia's lead to four points on two separate occasions, but the hosts took the first set, 25-17.
In the second stanza, the Cougars jetted out to an early 6-0 advantage over the visitors from Batesville. The Scots closed the gap to just three points after a
Maria Eleni Bampiri kill, 7-4. CC, though, responded as they won seven of the next nine rallies to extend their lead to eight points, 14-6. Both sides exchanged points the rest of the frame until Columbia took the second set, 25-15.
In the third frame, the Scots took a 7-5 advantage over the Cougars after blocks by
Gracen Ratliff and
Alley Edwards. Columbia fought back to tie the set at 8 apiece. Both teams exchanged leads until CC rattled off five consecutive points to take a 15-11 advantage. Lyon fought valiantly the entire match, but the Cougars had all the answers tonight as they took the third set, 25-19, to complete the sweep.
