SCOUTING THE SCOTS
Lyon is coming off a dominating performance last weekend, in which the Scots defeated Wayland Baptist, 42-7, to improve to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the SAC.
Isaiah Bradford accounted for five touchdowns in a game for the second time this season during last Saturday's win. Bradford tossed three touchdowns and ran for two more scores. On the day, he completed 13-of-24 passes for 187 yards. He also picked up 34 yards on the ground on 12 totes. Sam Taylor continues to be a force on the defensive side of the ball for the Scots as he leads the team with 65 total tackles after recording nine tackles last weekend against WBU. Taylor also collected his first interception of the season in the win. He leads the conference in total tackles and tackles per game (9.3).
SCOUTING THE SPIRIT
OUAZ is one of 10 teams in the NAIA that are still undefeated on the season as the Spirt enter this weekend at 8-0 overall and 6-0 in the SAC.
The Spirit have one of the best quarterbacks in the country on their roster in Austin McCullough. This season, McCullough has completed 189-of-338 passes for 2,569 yards with 30 touchdowns compared to nine interceptions. McCullough ranks second in the NAIA in passing yards per game (321.1), total offense (2,512), total offense yards per game (314) and total passing yards.
As a team, the Spirit rank third in the NAIA in total passing offense (2,667), total offensive yards per game (507.8), total scoring (405) and scoring offense per game (50.6).
Defensively, Amare Burks leads the team with 59 total tackles to go along with three interceptions on the year. Christian Woo is another player to watch in the OUAZ secondary as he leads the team with four interceptions.
