BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College men's basketball team will open up its 2019-20 season with a non-conference home game on Friday night against Huston-Tillotson. The Scots and Rams are set to tip-off at 7:30 p.m. inside Becknell Gymnasium.
THE MATCHUP
LYON: Faris Verlasevic and Ray Price are the top two scorers returning for the Scots from a season ago. Verlasevic averaged 10.5 points per game, which was third on the team, as a sophomore. He also averaged three rebounds per game. Price averaged 8.1 points per game as a true freshman and finished second on the team in assists (69) and rebounds per game (5.5).
HTU: Matthew Lewis and James Jenkins are the top two scorers returning from last season's roster for the Rams. Lewis appeared in 10 games and averaged 7.2 points per game to go along with 2.4 rebounds per game. In 18 games played, Jenkins averaged 6.6 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game.
SERIES HISTORY
The Scots won the lone matchup in the all-time series between the two teams last year on Nov. 20, 2018, by a score of 67-66 in Austin, Texas.
UP NEXT FOR THE SCOTS
Following Friday night's game against Huston-Tillotson, the Lyon College men's basketball team will return to action on Nov. 7 with a non-conference road game at Texas A&M-Texarkana at 7:30 p.m.
