BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College volleyball team heads east for a matchup with Bethel University on Monday evening. This will be the second meeting between the Scots and Lady Wildcats as Bethel got the best of Lyon in the Scots' home opener this season. First serve is set for 5:00 p.m. in McKenzie, Tennessee.
The Matchup
Bethel University: The Lady Wildcats are 14-11 on the season after falling to Xavier University of Louisiana on Saturday afternoon. Hannah McGowan paces BU with 338 kills, while Katelyn Van Hooser has tallied a team-leading 480 assists during the 2019 campaign. Defensively, the Lady Wildcats are led by Madison Ralph as she has recorded a team-high 394 digs, and Addison Coulter has notched 63 blocks.
Lyon College: The Scots come into this matchup carrying a 17-12 record and 5-4 mark in American Midwest Conference play.
Michayla Shanks is three aces away from compiling 200 aces in her collegiate career. Shanks is currently fourth all-time in Lyon College history for career aces, totaling 197 aces over her four-year career. The senior outside hitter is also the team-leader in kills (234), digs (217), and aces (48) this season.
Kendra Kelley and
Gracen Ratliff have also eclipsed the 200-kill plateau for the season as Kelley has tallied 217 kills during the 2019 campaign, while
Gracen Ratliff has notched 207. Meanwhile,
Kaitlyn Jackson paces the Scots in assists with 445. Defensively,
Maria Eleni Bampiri has continued to give opponents headaches as she has accumulated 58 blocks this season.

The Scots fell to the Lady Wildcats earlier this season in straight sets (13-25, 18-25, 18-25).

The Scots travel to Missouri to resume conference play on Nov. 1-2. Lyon will battle No. 7 Columbia College on Friday at 4:00 p.m. The next day, the Scots will square off against Stephens College and University of St. Mary on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., respectively.
