Scots Blank Pirates, 3-0, Clinch No. 2 Seed in AMC Tournament

Lyon Men’s Soccer Defeated Park University, 3-0, on Sunday

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College men's soccer team used a trio of second-half goals to defeat Park University by a score of 3-0 Sunday afternoon. With the win, Lyon has clinched the No. 2 seed in the AMC Tournament.

Lyon moves to 12-4-1 overall, 8-1-1 in the AMC, while Park University falls to 6-4-2 overall, 5-3-1 in the AMC. 
 
GAME FLOW 
Both sides generated chances in the first half, but were unable to get on the board. As the halftime whistle sounded, the match remained scoreless. Lyon and Park each recorded seven shots in the first 45 minutes.

The Scots got on the board first in the 51st minute. Vitor Fujiwara started a counter attack with a lead pass to Marcos Fernandez. Fernandez took the ball up the side, before finding a cutting Emanuel Santos at the back post. Santos cut to the middle and struck a shot past the outstretched arms of the keeper and into the back of the net, giving Lyon a 1-0 lead. In the 58th minute, Rafael Santos delivered a nice pass to Leo Galdino. Galdino struck a shot well past the top of the box that rocketed into the top corner of the net, doubling Lyon's advantage. In the 81st minute, Marcos Fernandez delivered a free kick into the box. Nathan Wilson ran under it and headed a shot past the goalie and into the back of the net, giving Lyon a 3-0 victory over Park University on Sunday.

KEY STATISTICS
Emanuel Santos and Nathan Wilson each scored their fifth goals of the season today.
Leo Galdino now has four goals in the 2019 campaign.
Marcos Fernandez tallied his AMC-best 15th and 16th assists.  
Rafael Santos and Vitor Fujiwara recorded their fourth and third assist of the year, respectively.
Vicente Alamos made a match-high eight saves, en route to his fourth clean sheet of the season.

The Scots conclude the regular season with a road conference match against William Woods University on Saturday, November 2nd at 1:30 p.m.
