BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College men's soccer team used a trio of second-half goals to defeat Park University by a score of 3-0 Sunday afternoon. With the win, Lyon has clinched the No. 2 seed in the AMC Tournament.
Lyon moves to 12-4-1 overall, 8-1-1 in the AMC, while Park University falls to 6-4-2 overall, 5-3-1 in the AMC.
GAME FLOW
Both sides generated chances in the first half, but were unable to get on the board. As the halftime whistle sounded, the match remained scoreless. Lyon and Park each recorded seven shots in the first 45 minutes.
The Scots got on the board first in the 51
st minute.
Vitor Fujiwara started a counter attack with a lead pass to
Marcos Fernandez. Fernandez took the ball up the side, before finding a cutting
Emanuel Santos at the back post. Santos cut to the middle and struck a shot past the outstretched arms of the keeper and into the back of the net, giving Lyon a 1-0 lead. In the 58
th minute,
Rafael Santos delivered a nice pass to
Leo Galdino. Galdino struck a shot well past the top of the box that rocketed into the top corner of the net, doubling Lyon's advantage. In the 81
st minute,
Marcos Fernandez delivered a free kick into the box.
Nathan Wilson ran under it and headed a shot past the goalie and into the back of the net, giving Lyon a 3-0 victory over Park University on Sunday.
