BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College volleyball team is back in action Tuesday as the Scots travel to Missouri for a non-conference match against College of the Ozarks. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. inside Keeter Gymnasium.
The Matchup
College of the Ozarks: The Lady Bobcats are 14-11 on the season after defeating a pair of American Midwest Conference teams – Stephens College and St. Louis College of Pharmacy – over the weekend. Offensively, C of O is led by Ryley Thixton as she has racked up 344 kills through the first 25 matches of the 2019 campaign. Abi Menzies and Kaylan Smith follow closely behind Thixton as they have accumulated 249 and 216 kills, respectively. Rielly Wallace has compiled a team-best 934 assists on the year, while Izzy Gibbany paces the Lady Bobcats in digs with 507 digs. Meanwhile, Maggie Plake and Kaylan Smith have used their length and athleticism at the net to combine for 109 blocks.
Lyon College: The Scots come into this matchup sporting a 14-12 record and 4-4 mark in conference play.
Michayla Shanks is one kill away from eclipsing 200 kills this season, while
Kendra Kelley and
Gracen Ratliff have notched 178 and 170 kills, respectively.
Kaitlyn Jackson and
Ellie Embry have combined for 706 assists through Lyon's first 26 matches. Shanks also leads Lyon defensively, racking up 184 digs this season.
Maria Eleni Bampiri has continued her terrific play at the net, recording a team-high 50 blocks.
Series History
The Scots are winless in their last eight meetings against College of the Ozarks. In their most recent meeting on Oct. 1, 2019, the Scots were swept by the Lady Bobcats (22-25, 16-25, 20-25).

Lyon gets back to conference play on Friday as the Scots host in-state rival, Central Baptist College. Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this home conference tilt will be Lyon Volleyball's annual Dig Pink Match to help raise awareness and relief efforts for breast cancer. The Scots will sport pink uniforms during the match and have pink decorations all around Becknell Gymnasium. The Dig Pink Match between Lyon and CBC will begin on Oct. 25 at 7:00 p.m. The following day, the Scots will battle Philander Smith College at 10:00 a.m. inside Becknell Gymnasium.
