BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College men's soccer team squares off with Hannibal-LaGrange University on Saturday. The match will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Huser Field.
Saturday also marks 'Senior Day' for six Scots' seniors in
Devon Browne (SR/St. Vincent),
Estiven Garcia (SR/Medellin, Colombia),
Gianni Santin (SR/Reunion Island),
Emanuel Santos (SR/Belo Horizonte, Brazil),
Rafael Santos (SR/Itauna, Brazil), and
Ignacio Zuniga (SR/Valparaiso, Chile) as they will all be honored for their contributions to the men's soccer program prior to the match.
The Matchup
Hannibal-LaGrange University: The Hannibal-LaGrange University Trojans are 9-3-1 on the year, 5-0-1 in the AMC. The Trojans are coming off a 3-2 victory over Missouri Baptist University on Tuesday. HLG is led up front by Renato Barroso and Jaume Garcia. Barroso has scored a team-best nine goals and a team-high seven assists, while Garcia has recorded seven goals and three assists so far this season. The Trojans will lean on goalkeeper, Rafael Todaro, who has recorded 48 saves in the 2019 campaign.
Lyon College: The Lyon College Scots are currently 10-4-1 on the season, 6-1-1 in the AMC. Lyon is coming off a 6-1 victory over St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Monday. The Scots are led up front by
Raimundo Cabello and
Marcos Fernandez. Cabello has tallied nine goals on the year, while Fernandez has recorded an NAIA-best 13 assists to go along with nine goals scored. Lyon's
Nate Ayalew and
Rafael Santos have tallied five goals apiece, while
Emanuel Santos has posted 10 assists in the 2019 campaign. Lyon College will also lean on junior goalkeeper,
Vicente Alamos, who has totaled a team-best 38 saves, including three clean sheets.
Series History
Lyon is 3-4-1 all-time against Hannibal-LaGrange University, with their most recent meeting being in 2018 as the Scots defeated the Trojans by a score of 1-0.
