Lyon Primed for Three Matches in Two Days

Scots Compete in Three Non-Conference Matches Over Two Days

BATESVILLE, Ark. – The Lyon College volleyball team hosts a tri-match on Monday before welcoming NCAA Division II Harding University to Becknell Gymnasium on Tuesday. On Monday, the Scots will square off against Tougaloo College at 3:00 p.m. and NCAA Division II University of Arkansas at Monticello in the nightcap at 7:00 p.m. The following day, Lyon will take on Harding University at 7:00 p.m.   

The Matchups
Tougaloo College: The Lady Bulldogs sport a 5-16 record this season after falling to Texas College in a five-set thriller Oct. 8. Kayelyn Salley leads her squad in kills as she has recorded 139 during the 2019 campaign, while Jedda Alcee has tallied a team-leading 276 assists. Meanwhile, Charis Peterson (253 digs) and Briana Hodge (66 blocks) headline TC's defense.

University of Arkansas at Monticello: The Weevils enter the Lyon College Tri-Match with a 5-13 record. Offensively, everything runs through Katie Pearson as she has accumulated 511 assists this season. Leslie Polanco and MarKaya Dickie pace UAM in kills as they have collected 217 and 201 kills, respectively. Defensively, Jessica Mahan has etched a team-high 265 digs,  while Taylor Calhoun has totaled a team-leading 55 blocks. 

Harding University: The Lady Bisons have compiled a 13-6 record during the 2019 campaign. Logan Smith has done it all for Harding as she has amassed 227 kills and 202 digs through the first 19 matches of the season. HU's two setters – Sarah Morehead and Arika Johnson – have combined for 653 assists, while Katherine Cowart leads her squad in digs (280) and service aces (29).

Lyon College: The Scots are 13-10 overall and 4-4 in the American Midwest Conference. Michayla Shanks has tallied 180 kills and 161 digs on the season. Gracen Ratliff has recorded 155 kills, while Kendra Kelley has notched 149. Meanwhile, Alley Edwards has compiled 141 kills on a .264 hitting percentage. Kaitlyn Jackson paces the Scots in assists, totaling 345 through the first 23 matches of the 2019 season. Maggee Hobson continues to be a force at the service line as she has a team-high 30 aces, while Maria Eleni Bampiri has registered a team-best 47 blocks.  
 
Series History
Tougaloo College: Lyon is 5-1 in their last six matchups against Tougaloo College. Earlier this season, the Scots swept the Lady Bulldogs (25-14, 25-17, 29-27). 

University of Arkansas at Monticello: The Scots are 0-5 in the last five meetings between the two squads. In the most recent matchup on Oct. 16, 2018, UAM defeated Lyon in four sets (25-8, 25-18, 21-25, 25-15).   

Harding University: Lyon is 0-6 in the last six contests against the Lady Bisons. In the most recent meeting between the two teams on Oct. 9, 2018, Harding bested Lyon in straight sets (25-10, 25-15, 25-22).

The Scots will have a week off before their next road match against College of the Ozarks on Oct. 22. The non-conference tilt between Lyon and C of O will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Point Lookout, Missouri.
