ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Lyon College men's basketball team trailed by four points with just over 11 minutes remaining in the game, but St. Louis College of Pharmacy went on a run late in the second half as the Eutectics defeated the Scots, 76-69, on Thursday night. STLCOP improved to 6-17 (5-11 American Midwest Conference), while the Scots slipped to 13-9 (7-7 AMC).
Though three-point shooting has been a strong suit for the Scots, Lyon shot just 4-for-16 from beyond the arc in the game, while STLCOP finished 11-for-29 from distance, including 5-for-11 in the second half. That helped the Eutectics make up a first-half deficit in which 11 points from Eric Moses helped Lyon take a 31-29 lead.
The game remained very tight in the first 10 minutes of the second half until a 6-0 by STLCOP gave the Eutectics a 54-44 advantage. Lyon would rally back and close the gap to six after a jumper by Ray Price with 51 seconds remaining, but the Scots ran out of time in their comeback attempt.
Moses ended with a team-high 18 points, while Antanas Krimelis came off the bench and recorded his second double-double of the season with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Emir Sabic also finished in double-digits scoring with 16 points. RJ Wright led all scorers in the game with 24 for the Eutectics.
Lyon College will continue its road trip on Saturday at No. 5 Missouri Baptist at 3 p.m.
