GAME FLOW

LSU-Shreveport scored the first goal of the game in the 3^rd minute. The Pilots would tack on a second goal in the 25^th minute. The Scots, however, responded in the 30^th minute with a goal by Joyce Barbosa (SR/Rio De Janeiro, Brazil). The Pilots then added two more goals from Carolina Martins-Gomes in the 34^thand 38^th minute. Lyon countered with a goal just before half in the 45^th minute as Darby Blaylock (SR/Fairview TX) found Judith Flores (SR/Elmhurst, Ill.) to cut the score to 4-2.  

The scoring would slow down in the second half as both defenses played very well. The lone goal of the second half would come from LSU-Shreveport's KJ Cunningham, her second of the game. The Scots would go on to outshoot the Pilots in the second half, but were unable to find the back of the net and would fall 5-2 in the opening game of the season.

KEY STATISTICS

- Judith Flores led the team with three shots, while Barbosa and Sarah Evans (FR/Tulsa, OK.) each recorded two shots on goal.

- Lyon goalkeeper Shelby Straight (SO/Tulsa, OK.) made seven saves on the day.

- Cunningham and Martins-Gomes each had a game high six shots, four shots on target, and two goals for the Pilots.
