AUSTIN, Texas – It took all 40 minutes to decide a winner between the Lyon College men's basketball team and Huston-Tillotson in a non-conference game on Tuesday night. With time winding down, there were three lead changes and one tie within the final 16 seconds of the game. Zalek Sharp had the biggest moment of his young career as the freshman scored the final five points for Lyon, including the game-winning free throws with one second left in the contest as the Scots earned a 67-66 win over the Rams.

The Scots found themselves trailing, 63-55, with 4:40 left in the game before Emir Sabic started the comeback for the Scots with a three-pointer. The three by Sabic opened up a 7-0 run for the Scots as Eric Moses scored four of his team-high 18 points on the next two possessions for Lyon to trim the deficit to one at 63-62 with 2:28 remaining.

Jacob Watts-Jenkins ended the Scots' run as he split a pair of free throws to give the Rams a 64-62 advantage, but that was when the spotlight turned to Sharp. The freshman hit a clutch three-pointer to give the Scots their first lead of the game since late in the first half at 65-64. The Rams called a timeout following the three by Sharp. Out of the timeout, the Rams got the ball in the hands of Courtney Julien, who drove the lane and made a layup as he was fouled for a chance at a three-point play. Julien missed the free-throw as Blake Bradshaw grabbed the rebound. The Scots did not have any timeouts remaining so they quickly got the ball in the hands of Sharp who pushed the ball up the court. Sharp drove straight to the lane and got fouled on his way to the basket with one second left in the game. The freshman hit the biggest free throws of his career as he sank both shots from the charity stripe to give the Scots the win.

Lyon held a pair of leads against Huston-Tillotson during the opening minutes of the first half, but the Rams used a 7-0 run to take a 23-17 lead over the Scots with 5:42 left in the half. The Scots answered back with a 9-2 run late in the half as a pair of free throws by Bradshaw gave the Scots a 30-28 advantage. HTU used another 7-0 run over the final 1:27 of the half to take a 35-30 lead at the half.

The Scots improved to 3-1 with the win and will conclude their trip to the state of Texas with another non-conference game tomorrow night at St. Thomas-Houston at 7:30 p.m. HTU entered the game averaging 99.7 points per game and were held to a season-low for points in a game as the Rams fell to 2-2.
