Box Score Four Scots scored in double-figures to lead Lyon College by the Bacone College Warriors 80-67 in Muskogee, Oklahoma on Monday night.
Ben Keton led Lyon with 28 points that included five 3-pointers and 8-of-11 at the free throw line.
Grant Patterson scored 18 points and was 8-of-8 from the free throw line.
John Paul Morgan added 16 points, with 14 of those coming in the second half, and had nine rebounds, while
Jonathan Iliya was a perfect 3-of-3 on field goals and 4-of-4 at the free throw line for 10 points to go with seven boards in the win.Â
Bacone broke an 8-8 tie early in the first half with a 12-4 run to go up 20-12 by the 8:48 mark. Patterson made a couple of free throws, before Keton scored on a jumper and Patterson found himself back at the line for two more free throws to cut the Bacone lead to 22-21. Â
Iliya tipped-in a missed shot for Lyon,
Trenton Bell put in a basket, Patterson hit a three-pointer, then Iliya came on to hit two free throws and put in a hook shot to keep the Scots within one point. Morgan put back an offensive rebound to give Lyon a one-point lead and Keton made a last-second three-pointer to give the Scots a 35-31 halftime advantage.
Keton opened the second half with a 3-pointer and Iliya put in another tip-in. Morgan scored off the offensive glass on a turnaround layup between two defenders. Keton scored again and Morgan cleaned the boards again for a basket and a 46-41 Lyon lead. Bacone came back to tie the game at 46-46 on a 3-pointer and two free throws.Â
The Warriors took a brief lead, but Keton completed a three-point play and followed with a jumper in the lane a few seconds later to make it a 55-51 Scots lead. Morgan scored inside and
Eric Koludrovick put in a free throw, but the Warriors tied the game at 58-58 with 8:12 to go. Bacone took a four-point lead on two free throws and jumper, but Lyon went on an 11-0 run to pull away to a seven-point lead.
Morgan put in a reverse-layup, Keton put in a jump shot from the lane, then stepped out for a 3-pointer. Patterson put in a bucket and made steal, then Morgan put in a missed Koludrovick free throw for a 69-62 lead. Iliya put in an offensive miss, Keton added four free throws for a 75-64 Scots lead with 57 seconds left.
The Scots will be in action again on Saturday, Dec. 18 in Texarkana, against Texas A&M-Texarkana at 4 p.m.
