101-pound Weight Class: Kassidy Ramirez earned 13 points for the Scots in her three matches tonight. Ramirez battled Life University's Amber Garriga in her first action of the NWCA National Championship Duals. Ramirez fought hard the entire match. However, Garriga proved to be too much as she defeated Ramirez. Next, Ramirez earned two forfeit victories against both Southern Oregon University and Missouri Valley College.
116-pound Weight Class: In her first match of the day,
Jasmine Hernandez pinned LU's Kayla Herrera at the 3:56 mark, giviing the Scots six points. Next, SOU's Tara Othman edged Hernandez in a terrific bout by the narrowest margin, 9-8. However, Hernandez rebounded in her final match of the evening, pinning MVC's Gabrielle Grimes at the 5:07 mark.
123-pound Weight Class: Emma De Brum fought hard in her first two matches, but lost both. De Brum, though, saved her best wrestling for last as she overpowered MVC's Hilda Garcia. De Brum finished off Garcia just 77 seconds into the match.
136-pound Weight Class: The Scots had two wrestlers compete in this weight class in their matches this evening.
Elissa Douglass wrestled in the 136-pound weight class against LU and SOU, while
Rebekah Garcia took the mat against MVC. Douglass made quick work of LU's Aysia Cortez, pinning Cortez at the 4:24 mark. In her next match, Douglass faced off against SOU's Gladdys Palma. Douglass gave Palma all she could handle, but Palma was up to the task as she defeated Douglass. In the Lyon's final dual of the day,
Rebekah Garcia earned a victory via forfeit against MVC.
143-pound Weight Class: Similar to the 136-pound weight class, Lyon had a couple wrestlers compete in the 143-pound division.
Alexandrea Banag faced LU's Zoe Wright and SOU's Sienna Ramirez in her two matches. Banag fought hard all night, however, she came up short in both matches. In Lyon's final dual against MVC,
Elissa Douglass squared off against Julia Mata. Douglass was impressive, pinning Mata just 121 seconds into the match.
155-pound Weight Class: Alexandrea Banag finished off her evening as she competed in the 155-pound slot for the Scots against MVC. Banag was terrific, taking down her opponent at the 1:51 mark of the competition.

"It's a little frustrating not being able to put a whole squad out on the mat, but the ladies that wrestled did well. We were coming back from winter break so it wasn't ideal to have to knock off our rust at nationals duals. However, we've got a few more tournaments until the WCWA's so we're going to take those one at a time" - Coach

Lyon will travel to Kansas to compete in the EZ-Flex Open on Jan. 13. The event will take place inside the Wilson Field House on the campus of Ottawa University.
